CLM Cargo Air Freight in Colombia

We offer a wide range of professional services to meet your needs. We are committed to delivering each service at the highest level of satisfaction.

At CLM Cargo, an International Freight Forwarder, we provide various cargo transportation services, including international air freight. The advantages of air freight include faster global transit times compared to sea freight, as well as more arrival and departure locations across America, the Caribbean, Europe, and Asia. This allows for faster last-mile or door-to-door distribution, even to the most remote locations.

For shipments where cargo is small, and standard air freight is too costly, we offer an alternative: "COURIER SERVICES" for both exports and imports. This is a specialized air freight mode, but it requires customs documentation to ensure smooth clearance. We call this process "COURIER WITH MODE CHANGE."

Courier shipments can be dispatched from anywhere in the world. This service is provided on an EXW (Ex Works) basis, meaning the cargo is picked up directly from the sender’s location.

As an International Freight Forwarder, CLM Cargo recognizes the importance of air freight, relocations, and courier services in providing excellent logistics solutions. Thanks to partnerships with global freight agents, international route networks, annual shipment volumes, and agreements with major airlines, we can offer preferential contracts, priority reservations—even during peak seasons—space confirmations, and competitive rates with leading cargo and passenger airlines in Colombia and the U.S., including:

American Airlines Cargo, Avianca Cargo, Copa Airlines Cargo, Tampa Cargo, Aerolíneas Argentinas Cargo, Aeromexico Cargo, Air Canada Cargo, Air France Cargo, Iberia Cargo, KLM Cargo, FedEx, Atlas Air, Polar Air Cargo, DHL, UPS, and more.

To enter or exit a country, all shipments must comply with the customs regulations and airline security requirements according to the type of product.

It is important to note that some products are not permitted under this transportation mode. Before shipping, please contact our customs brokerage department to verify any restrictions and requirements for your import or export cargo.

For all routes, we can also dispatch or receive cargo from the main cargo airports in Colombia, such as Medellín, Cali, Cartagena, and Barranquilla.

For other destinations like the Middle East, Asia, Africa, Australia, and New Zealand, since there are no direct routes, we operate through interline connections. This means that the cargo is initially transported by one airline, which then connects at another hub, such as Miami, New York, Madrid, or another location, with an airline that provides service to the final destination.

Air freight rates are generally presented in the following scales: minimum rate, rate for shipments under 100 kg, 100–300 kg, 300–500 kg, 500–1000 kg, and over 1000 kg.

Example: The minimum rate is USD 100, and the rate for shipments under 100 kg is USD 4 per kg. If we divide the minimum rate (USD 100) by the scale rate (USD 4), we get 25 kg. This means that the rate for shipments under 100 kg applies from 26 kg or more, based on actual or volumetric weight.

  • Weight: 24 kg → 24 x USD 4 = USD 96, but the minimum rate is USD 100, so the minimum rate applies.
  • Weight: 25 kg → 25 x USD 4 = USD 100, which matches the minimum rate.
  • Weight: 26 kg → 26 x USD 4 = USD 104, but since the minimum rate is USD 100, the rate for shipments under 100 kg applies.

Cargo is charged based on the greater value between actual weight and volumetric weight. To determine whether my cargo is heavier or more voluminous, I must calculate it using the following formulas:

FORMULA FOR CARGO VOLUME CALCULATION:
(Length x Width x Height in cm) x Number of pieces / 6000

FORMULA FOR COURIER VOLUME CALCULATION:
(Length x Width x Height in cm) x Number of pieces / 5000

Example: I have 4 boxes, each measuring 50 x 50 x 50 cm, and each weighing 30 kg.

  • Volume weight calculation: (50 x 50 x 50 x 4) / 6000 = 83.33 kg/vol
  • Gross weight calculation: 4 x 30 kg = 120 kg
  • Since the actual weight is 120 kg and the volumetric weight is 83.33 kg, the cargo will be charged based on actual weight.
